Top Four Not Well Known Long Island Wedding Venues – K & G Limousine

K and G Limousine would like to tribute you some idea for wedding venues.  Most weddings now a days have a particular theme.  These are four places we found that might help you set up a theme.

Adventureland Amusement Park

What better way to find a theme for a wedding, than a theme park?  Maybe a cotton candy colored wedding, where you actually serve cotton candy would be a good change up.  Adventureland opened in 1962 and has been the site for a great many events, including weddings.  There is a large room in the back of the arcade which has seating for up to 120 people, or perhaps the amusement park’s restaurant and outside patio would be more your style. It can hold from 250 to 300 people.  At their leisure, guests can make themselves at home among the park’s 45 rides and midway games.  The carousel, the Ferris wheel, haunted house, or the train, which circles around the park, are all popular photo backdrops for just married couples.  The park is located at 2245 Broad Hollow Road (Rt. 110) in Farmingdale, NY 11735.

American Airpower Museum

At the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, brides and grooms can have their weddings and/or receptions at one of the historic hearts of Long Island.  The museum is built on the site of Republic Aviation, where more than 9000 P-47 Thunderbolts were produced during World War II.  Ceremonies can be held under the wing of a C47 transport plane used during the D-Day invasion in 1944.  For a bit of added glory (not to mention nostalgia) the bride and groom can taxi in the C47, with their entire wedding party, to the reception area and be welcomed by war-era re-enactors.  Receptions may be held in the museum’s 35,000-square-foot hangar.  No sense in “winging it” when there are plenty of wings available here for any sized wedding party.  They are located at 1230 New Highway in Farmingdale, NY.

Old Bethpage Village Restoration

If something new age isn’t to your liking, maybe the best remedy is taking a tour through the past.  The Old Bethpage Village Restoration comprises 55 historic buildings and seven reconstructions, ensconced on a 209-acre site owned and operated by Nassau County. It’s the site of the annual Long Island Fair in October and entertainment by candlelight in late December.  Ceremonies can be held in the Manetto Hill Church, built in 1857, and the first building to be moved to the restoration property after the county took over in 1963.  The church interior has been fully restored and the exterior will be repainted this fall.  Receptions use the Fairground Exhibition Hall, a four-winged barn in the shape of a Greek cross, built in 1995 as a reproduction of the 1866 Mineola Fair Exhibition Hall.  Installation of heat, air-conditioning and restrooms will be completed this month.  The village is open from April through December, but weddings can be planned for off season.  They are located at 1303 Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage.

Old Westbury Gardens

This little gem has shown up on the silver screen multiple times over the years.  It was the location for Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest and Hitch, a 2005 romantic comedy starring Will Smith, among other films.  Sex and the City even shot a wedding episode there.  Orchard Hill at Old Westbury Gardens offers an exclusive and intimate setting with the ambience of a unique period in Long Island history.  It is a Quaker farmhouse built in 1859 by the Hicks family and moved in the early 20th Century from Hicks Lane in Westbury to the property. Sitting on 35 secluded acres, the building, which has been opened up for receptions recently, has several rooms and kitchen amenities.  The house can accommodate between 60 and 80 people, and a large tent in the back can shelter 150 people.  They are located at 71 Old Westbury Road in Old Westbury.

This should make for some fun alternatives to the normal choices for a wedding and reception and make sure that you don’t just rinse and repeat on your wedding day.  If you’re interested in a great long island wedding then contact us at K and G Wedding Limousine.
